Some types of hygrometers
As in the case of the thermometer, the invention and development of the barometer depended on the experiment that allowed Evangelista Torricelli (1608-1647), in 1644, to establish incontrovertibly the effects of atmospheric pressure. In this room the origin and development of this instrument can be traced up to the end of the eighteenth century. The development of other branches of meteorology consequent to the adoption of increasingly refined instruments for measurement -hygrometers, pluviometers, anemometers, etc.- can also be observed. The Medici family's interest in meteorology led in 1654 to the establishment of an international "network" of meteorological stations.
