Leonardo the Inventor
Science and Technology in the Italian Renaissance

Following the presentation at the Museum of Natural History in Beijing (20 May - 15 September 2006), the Wuhan International Exhibition and Convention Center (Hubei Province) hosts a special adaptation of the exhibition Renaissance Engineers - from Brunelleschi to Leonardo, conceived of and realized by the Institute and Museum of the History of Science of Florence with initial financial support from Finmeccanica.

The exhibition has been presented in prestigious venues (Paris, Florence, New York, London and Tokyo) and has been visited by almost two million people. It has been internationally acknowledged and critically acclaimed.

The Beijing and Wuhan venues, under the title Leonardo the Inventor - Science and Technology in the Italian Renaissance, present the whole section on Leonardo da Vinci together with a significant synthesis of the other two sections, devoted to Filippo Brunelleschi and the Sienese engineers Taccola and Francesco di Giorgio. The working models of “Leonardo’s Automobile” are also on display.

The Beijing and Wuhan venues are promoted and funded by the Italian Ministry of Universities and Research and General Direction for Research Coordination and Development, in collaboration with the Institute and Museum of the History of Science within the framework of The Year of Italy in China 2006.
