How to reach the museum

 

On foot

On foot from Santa Maria Novella train station (total time is 20 minutes)
From the Santa Maria Novella train station head for the Duomo Santa Maria del Fiore, the cathedral church of Florence. From there take Via dei Calzaioli street and walk on until you reach Piazza della Signoria. Then cross this square and then proceed between the two wings of the Uffizi Gallery. Once you reach the river turn left. The Museum of History of Science will be on you left, just up river from  the Uffizi Gallery.

 

By bus from the train station
Bus service from Santa Maria Novella train station. Take bus number 23, direction “Sorgane” or direction “Nave A Rovezzano” to the "Galleria degli Uffizi" stop which is near the Museum’s entrance close to the river. Bus tickets can be purchased before boarding at Tabacco shops or magazine stands or directly from the busdriver with exact change at a higher rate.

 

By train
Arriving by train to the Santa Maria Novella station is the most convenient way to arrive in Florence due to the large zone that is limited to traffic. Proceed by bus or on foot.

Exit from the motorway A1 at “Firenze Sud”. As the historic city centre of Florence is almost entirely limited to traffic we would advise you to park in the parking lot near the Santa Maria Novella train station and to proceed by bus or on foot.

By plane
From the Florence Airport Amerigo Vespucci take the shuttle bus VOLA IN BUS to the station of Santa Maria Novella and proceed bus or on foot. A taxi from the airport to the city center of Florence costs approximately 20 Euro.

From the Pisa Airport Galileo Galilei you can take either a pullman or the train that leaves directly from the airport to the train station at Santa Maria Novella (often you need to change trains at the Pisa Central train station before proceeding to Florence).
