Editorial Board

The journal Galilæana is devoted to research in all aspects concerning the figure, work, scientific findings and fortunes of Galileo Galilei. Promoted by the Istituto e Museo di Storia della Scienza, Galilæana is published annually under the auspices of the Universities of Florence, Padua, Pisa and Domus Galiæana.

The significant Galilæana appendix - Galilæana Online - is accessible from the menu on the right. In addition to the journal's cumulative indexes, Galilæana Online also publishes supplemental documents (manuscripts and printed texts, digitized copy and iconographic materials) cited in the published articles.

Galilæana
accepts articles written in Italian, English, French, German and Spanish. Each article will be introduced by a summary in Italian and English of about 300 words. Please refer to "Editorial Guidelines" for editorial criteria.

Journal Sections

Galilean Lectures

This section publishes the presentations from the yearly 'Galilean Lectures' meeting. This activity is promoted by the Istituto e Museo di Storia della Scienza.

Studies

This section will publish between two to four articles that show new and original contribution to research in Galilean studies.

Texts

This section will publish different and unpublished and/or rare material concerning Galileo and his historical context. Each document is introduced by a short historical and critical explanation.

Notes & Gleanings

Following the known series by Antonio Favaro this section will present short notices, text integrations, and curiosities of Galilean interest.

Historiography

Galilean studies have a long and articulated history, characterized by multiple and often conflicting interpretations of the work and figure of the Pisan scientist. This section intends to study in depth the knowledge of the protagonists and positions that have marked the path of Galilean historiography, hosting contributions (biographies of noted scholars of the past; reconstructions of explanatory tendencies of the area or period; specific studies on changes of the "image" of Galileo) aimed at highlighting the principal articulations in the reception of the scientific and cultural elaborations of Galileo.

Iconography

This section is devoted to the history of visual representation of Galileo and his scientific activity.

Essay Reviews

This section publishes reviews concerning recent historiography in the field.
