By observing and studying the surrounding environment, man developed his first theoretical reflections, mainly used for pratical benefit. In-depth knowledge of astronomy was used to measure time and a close relationship between astronomical observation and the agricultural calendar was established. Mathematical rules guided the surveyors in their work.
