Closure of main exhibition area.  Free entrance to ground floor exhibits

February 2- 10, 2009

Starting January 31, 2009 the museum’s current main exhibition Galileo’s Telescope:  The Instrument that Changed the World will be dismantled in order to prepare for the future exhibition titled Scientific Instruments from Antique Florentine Collections that will open on February 11th, 2009.

From February 2nd to 10th entrance will be free to visit the museum’s ground floor only where a selection of the museum’s collection as well as the exhibition Astronomy in Florence: From the “Specola” to the Arcetri Observatory will be on view.

We would like to inform our visitors that the museum is currently undergoing major restoration and remodelling of the first and second floors that normally house its permanent collection.  We expect to inaugurate these new floors in autumn of 2009.
