Visiting the Museum with your school

Firenze Scienza. La Fisica a Firenze nell’Ottocento. Macchine e modelli da utilizzare
(From November 8, 2009 to May 9, 2010)

The exhibition Firenze Scienza: 19th Century Physics in Florence-Machines and Instruments mainly deals with the development of the branches of physics in the Imperiale e Regio Museo di Fisica e Storia Naturale (Royal Museum of Physics and Natural History), founded in 1775 by the Grand Duke Pietro Leopoldo.

Type of visit

Non-guided groups visits
Groups made up of more than15 persons must reserve, free of charge, a date and time in advance to ensure sufficient space and time to view the Museum's collections. Groups of more than 30 people will be divided into two or more separate groups. The visit to the exhibition takes about 45 minutes.

COSTS
The special Firenze Scienza Card allows access to the 4 venues of the exhibition Firenze Scienza (Zoologic Section 'La Specola' of the Natural History Museum, Museum of the History of Science, Physics Cabinet of the Science and Technology Foundation and Palazzo Medici Riccardi) and to all the sections of the Natural History Museum.
The Cards are for sale at the Natural History Museum, the Museum of the History of Science and Palazzo Medici Riccardi.
Firenze Scienza Student's Card € 4,50 per pupil (A maximum of 2 teachers per group enter for free)

Didactic visits "Electrifying experiences"
This kind of visit is an interactive activity and includes demonstrations of functioning antique instruments with an introduction to the rich history of the collections and the evolution of science. Didactic visits take about 1 hour and are available, through advance reservations, in Italian and English.

Visits for the visually impaired
A docent presents to the visually impaired visitors a variety of objects on display in the museum. It is possible to touch some of the original instruments and handle replicas to gain a full understanding of their context in the historic evolution of science. This experience, as well as the museum entrance, is free of charge and is available in Italian and English. Advanced reservations are requested.
