Description

Plano-concave eyepiece lens mounted in a wooden ring covered with cardboard. The diameter of the lens is 26 mm, the focal length -140 mm (the negative focal length means that the lens is diverging). The glass has a good transparency, in spite of some elliptical bubbles. On the ring is the inscription "B: 10. Bu: [?]", which seems to suggest the combination of this eyepiece with a 10 braccia objective (corresponding to 5840 mm). This lens, of Florentine origin, as indicated by the measure in braccia, can be dated to between 1640 and 1660.
