The Velocity Paradox for Inclined Planes

In the Dialogo, EN VII, 48/24, Galileo formulates the "Velocity Paradox for Inclined Planes" as follows:

Salv. Then it would seem to you still more false if I should say categorically that the speeds of the bodies falling by the perpendicular and by the incline [of equal height] are equal. Yet this proposition is quite true, just as it is also true that the body moves more swiftly along the perpendicular than along the incline.
