Bibliotheca Perspectivae

This project, directed by Filippo Camerota, aims to satisfy the requisites of a historiography sector long considered an appendix to art history or a "corollary" of the history of science, but today increasingly viewed as a specific discipline of its own. The history of perspective or, more generally, of representation, now boasts an ample bibliography, which documents its specific nature within the panorama of critical studies on the arts and sciences of the modern era. Bibliotheca Perspectivae intends to furnish scholars with a "library" on representation which contains, in addition to the treatise sources of the period ranging from the 15th through the 18th centuries (over 50 works, extremely rare and precious, acquired in image format), abundant iconographic and informative materials accompanied by animations illustrating the operation of the more complex perspective instruments.

Digital acquisition of documents is effected at 400 DPI 24-bit (TIFF, jpeg2000 or PNG) color. For on-line consultation, there is a resolution of 150 DPI jpeg 80% (enlargement 600 pixels, larger side, jpeg 80%).

For input of the metadata, which allow consultation of the texts through a structured index, the MAG format has been utilized.
